Insert coin to activate robot!

Automatarium is a comic installation that brings life to various spaces of the festival. Inspired by the early robotic slot machines of the XX century. "La Moños" and "The Gipsy Queen", displayed at the Museu dels Autòmats del Tibidabo, in Barcelona, are a perfect example.

In this installation, the actors are found inside individual wooden and methacrylate cabins which imitate the old constructions and are activated by coins or tokens that the public introduce through a slot.

The team of actors start imitating the robotic actions of the robots and end up enacting a script with elements of comedy and disciplines like magic, story telling, singing, mime, etcetera.

Each of these acts lasting a maximum of one minute, with the objective of the show being dynamic and to stimulate interaction between the robot and the person who makes it work. Outside is another actor, responsible for maintenance, who helps bind the show together, gives tokens to the public and fixes little mechanical problems.

Automatàrium is a production of David Berga Management and Produccions Trapa directed by Jordi Purtí, ex member of Els Joglars and theatre director of succesful shows like L'Ombra, Hop!era, Utopista, Flirt and Operetta, amongst others.
