The Inaugural Gala

A star studded spectacular

The king of comedy par excellence, Juan Carlos Alfonso Victor Maria de Borbon and Borbon-Dos Sicilias Albà and Noya is the official presenter of the night. The King in the role of court jester; a great jester in the role of King. Freed from the restraints of television programs and without the pressure of the “Unroyal Family” (his last live show) on the scene, Toni Albà plays the monarch that the current political moment calls for here in Catalonia.

He shares the stage with all the popular television characters that Pep Plaza brings along. The audience gets the chance to appreciate this talented comedian live, with his unliminted repertoire of hilarious impressions.

As impersonations and impressions are currently incredibly popular in Catalonia, it is fittling to present this style of humour. But a magical cabaret would be nothing without the humour and poetic sensibility of artists such as Hugo and Ines. From Peru, a precious stone, a sublime mix of mime and puppetry, grace and imagination. Also Tortell Poltrona, last years national Circus prize winner, helps to complete this grand opening gala night.

And to crown it all, the magician Antonio Diaz. Within a few years we could see this young talent surpassing his teachers. Watch this space! As a young boy he watched David Copperfield fly and dreamed that one day he might fly too. As the “The Mago Pop” he has become the discovery Max channels latest sensation. His show 'The Great Illusion' packs theatres wherever he goes. A recognised fan of Tamariz, this latest National Magic award winner comes to Figueres to seduce, tease and bring laughter to the audience on the most magical night of the festival.
